The Readers Roadtrip () So the big news that Simon and Thomas can finally share is that this September they are going to be together again (woohoo) and doing a road trip (double woohoo) to Booktopia Petoksey (triple woohoo) they discuss where they are heading to and what you would like them to do while they are on it, and what you would like them to record.

Catching Up () Whilst this is in essence a catch up show full stop Simon and Thomas discuss what they have been upto, including the fact Simon will be on Resonance FM this Sunday on the proper radio and everything, as well as Thomas and jury duty. Random catch up indeed. They also discuss all the shenanigans that have been going on with the agenda of female authors in the last week since Ali Smith won the Bailey’s Prize with How to be both which they also discuss… Blimey.

Reading Slumps () Since Simon has finished reading for Fiction Uncovered he has gone into a slight reading slump, even though he is reading two brilliant books that are very him, so Thomas gives him some advice and support and they talk it out. Have you any recommendations for how Simon can beat the slump?

Ep 127; Short Stories & Are Too Many Books Published Every Year?

Short Stories () Simon has not always been the biggest fan of short stories, apart from those featuring Mr Sherlock Holmes, however it seems he has now got the bug and so wanted to talk to Thomas about them. They talk about collections of stories they have loved, collections they have meant to read and how some short stories can be as powerful as a 500 page novel.

Too Many Books Being Published? () Since Simon has both read for Fiction Uncovered and also since he found out how many books were published in both the UK and US in 2012 and 2013 (the number has gone up) he has been feeling that too many books get published every year. Thomas thinks the opposite, they discuss, possibly have tantrums and try and find out who is right? Whose side are you on?

Next time on the Readers () Thomas and Simon will be back in two weeks with more book based banter… or maybe it will be Simon and Gavin?
